The hip Williamsburg Hotel is located in the middle of the creative Williamsburg district. The rooms are decorated so nicely that you prefer to stay in bed all day. Especially if, like us, you have a room on the 8th floor with a breathtaking view of Manhattan. So what do you do then? Order room service and then explore the neighborhood on a bicycle.
There is a nice energy in this hotel. Downstairs is a cool hotel lounge where you can sit down at the bar for a nice drink. Unlike many other hotels, it is really cozy here in the evenings. When we were there a DJ was playing in the evening. Also in the beautiful water tower on the rooftop there are often parties with live music. We were there in the winter but in the summer you can use the rooftop pool. In addition to the distinctive interior, the staff is also remarkably friendly. There is a relaxed hipster vibe where you can quickly feel at ease. Do not expect a “stiff” 5-star hotel, but a trendy variant of this.
Room
We slept on the 8th floor and had a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline from our balcony. The rooms are not large but they are furnished in a practical and super stylish way. A huge bed with lots of pillows, a glass sliding door for optimum views and a fresh bathroom in turquoise tones. They have paid a lot of attention to hip details that fully fit the style of the Williamsburg district.
Room service
Escape the hustle and bustle of New York City and stay in bed longer with a good breakfast from Harveys. This is the restaurant downstairs in the lounge and they provide the room service. No standard american breakfast but granola and tasty fresh sandwiches with avocado. A healthy start for a new day in the city.
Cycling in New York
When we asked for bikes just after checking in at the reception, we were slightly laughed at. Always those Dutchies again! He literally said that only Dutch people use the hotel’s free bicycles. But hey … take a look. The Williamsburg district is a lot quieter / safer to explore by bike. If you cycle towards the Dumbo neighborhood (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), you can enjoy beautiful views of the river and Manhattan along the way. If you have more time, you can also cross the Williamsbridge by bike to Manhattan. There you will find excellent cycle paths, but pay attention to the area you are taking and try avoiding the rush a little in some places because it can be really crowdy.
