One of the nicest cities in Europe is getting more and more popular… Berlin! A city known for its intense history. There is still much to be found here, such as the world-famous Berlin Wall that has split the city into two for years. But in addition, Berlin is known for its many parks, super hip cafes and special street art. That’s the reason why it’s also called the creative capital of Europe. The perfect ingredients for a fun city trip!
Car trip to Berlin
By car you drive to Berlin in 6 to 7 hours from Holland. Remember that an environmental sticker is mandatory when you drive into the city by car. You can order these online for approx. € 12.50 or buy it at a gas station. There are several P + R parking places on the outskirts of Berlin but we have chosen to just park our car in the city. The average parking rates are a lot lower than in Amsterdam and on Sundays it is even free parking in many places in the center. It is handy to check in advance (online) what the possibilities are in the vicinity of your hotel.
Transportation on site
If the weather permits, it is great fun to explore the city by bicycle. We were planning to rent a bike only the first day but we eventually cycled through the city for three days. We paid € 12 per bike per day and this price is quite average in Berlin. The distances are relatively large but we found it great to do. Moreover, you experience the city on a bicycle very differently than when you take the metro for example. Recommended! If you prefer to travel by public transport, it is useful to purchase a day ticket. For a small € 8 you can use the S-bahn, U-bahn, tram, bus and regional train (zone ABC) all day long. Verblijf

Unknown places in Berlin
Berlin is full of tourist sights. Yet there are also many lesser-known places to find, which are just as much fun to visit during your city trip.
