1. Boat trip on the Hudson River
Whether you go to New York in the summer or in the winter; a boat trip on the Hudson River is always worthwhile. Not only to see the statue of liberty up close, but also because of the great view of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge. There are different trips available. We have chosen the Statue of Liberty Express with the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises. This boat trip takes around an hour and costs 31 $. You can also do this tour with the City Pass.
There are several cool places to cycle in New York. One of the best known options is cycling in Central Park. We have taken the entrance next to the Trump Tower. There is a Bike Rent NYC kiosk where you can rent bicycles. This costs $15 for the first hour and then $5 extra per hour. Another cool option is to cross the Brooklyn or Williamsburg Bridge by bike and explore a piece of Brooklyn.
Some people see the Manhattan district also as total New York. Many famous sights can be found in Manhattan, but don’t miss a visit to Brooklyn. We chose to spend a few nights at The Williamsburg Hotel so that we could explore this creative neighborhood at leisure. You can also choose an Uber, the metro or cross the bridge on foot / by bike. From the Dumbo neighborhood (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overseas) you can enjoy lunch with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline.
4 Empire State Building
You have a different view of the city from the Empire State Building. You really feel “on top of the world” when you look over the city from the 86th floor. If you go up with the elevator you will first be taken to the 74th floor. There you will find information boards about the history of the tower. Next, take the elevator further up to the observation deck on the 86th floor. The entrance to the Empire Sate Building is currently $ 38. You can also visit this attraction with the City Pass.

You can’t get around it on my Instagram feed: I love street art! New York is full of it. Wander through the streets of Manhattan and be surprised by the creative walls such as this John Lennon (see photo). There are also many cool prints to be found in Brooklyn … Another reason to pay a visit to ‘the other side’.
6. Memorial 9/11
Although it is almost 20 years ago, the 9/11 disaster is still fresh in everyone’s memory. On the spot where the World Trade Center used to be, you can now find a beautiful memorial place. The deep dark hole brings with it an enormous gray feeling, especially how they put it down. Also take a few hours for the 9/11 museum. In addition to impressive details and messages from relatives you will also find original elements from the towers such as the stairs and pillars. Goosebumps! The entrance to the museum is 24 $. You can also visit this attraction with the City Pass.
New York is also called “the city that never sleeps”. Enjoy the bustle during an evening walk on Times Square. The famous New York skyline is even more impressive in the dark. Good reason to visit the Empire State Building or another beautiful viewpoint in the evening. You will also find countless nice bars, jazz cafés (tip: Blue Note) and Comedy cafés in New York. When after a long day in the city we were a bit fed up, we also caught a movie at Regal Cinema. Relax in the best cinema seats ever!
